Looking beyond its core legal mandate, the Department of Legal Affairs under the Ministry of Law and Justice held a blood donation camp at Shastri Bhawan today, in association with the Indian Red Cross Society. The initiative was organised in the run-up to World Blood Donor Day, observed every year on June 14.
Law Secretary Dr. Anju Rathi Rana was present at the camp and encouraged officials to see blood donation not just as an act of charity but as a social responsibility. Senior officers, staff members, and several women employees participated in the drive.
The camp reflected this year’s global theme: “Give Blood, Give Hope: Together We Save Lives”, and served as a reminder of how consistent, voluntary blood donation plays a crucial role in strengthening the country’s healthcare system.
Beyond symbolic observance, the Department’s initiative added real value to the national blood supply and demonstrated how government institutions can actively contribute to public welfare beyond policy and paperwork.
By hosting the drive, the Department of Legal Affairs underscored the importance of leading by example — showing that even institutions rooted in governance and law can support life-saving causes in meaningful ways.
